VG’s Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance initiatives are driven by our commitment to the communities, our associates, our residents, and the client-owners we serve.

ESG Initiatives

We have well established internal policies and procedures, and partner with a vast network of national suppliers and philanthropic non-profits to ensure consistent execution and ongoing evolution of our ESG focus and ongoing initiatives.

Furthermore, as a third-party operator, we provide counsel to our client-owners related to the use of sustainable and recycled products, and environmentally-conscious practices to ensure workplace and resident safety, and the proliferation of diversity, equality and inclusion in all aspects of operations.

Environment

Environmentally Friendly Green Practices

As a crucial part of onboarding and ongoing training for all associates, we provide a structured curriculum comprised of the categories listed below. Classes are offered virtually, which proliferates our green practices by reducing the need for travel to and from corporate or regional offices, thus reducing carbon emissions.

Sustainable MRO and Construction Materials

We use only ecofriendly, sustainable, and recycled materials in our corporate and regional offices for all new construction and/or upgrades. Additionally, we require recycling in our corporate, regional and on-site offices, and encourage the same practices when providing consulting design services for new lease-ups and value-add renovations.

Supplier Partner Alliances

The materials national procurement services we provide to all properties we operate through our key supplier partner relationships proliferates our mission of reducing carbon footprint, encouraging sustainability, and maximizing energy savings and efficiency.

  • Containers for the Disposal of Hazardous Materials
  • Battery Recycling Kits
  • Spill Control Absorbents and Kits Materials and Products
  • Biohazard Containment – Receptacles, Sharps Containers, Postage Paid Return
  • Box, Manifest Tracking Form, and Instructions
  • Lighting Recycling Kits
  • Programs offering boxes/bucket options for proper disposal of lamps, ballasts, batteries, aerosol cans, mercury waste, electronics, smoke detectors, and tritium exit signs. The program includes the packaging, prepaid shipping, processing, and certification of recycling.

Construction Project Management & Capital Oversight Services

– As an Executive Board Member of the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC), Village Green supports and is actively engaged in activities influencing public policy and local ordinances to encourage the creation of equitable affordable housing across the country; our key goal is to be an active participant in mitigating the housing insecurity that currently exists.

Village Green takes steps to ensure that all contractors and subcontractors with whom we engage to provide construction services are following the highest ethical standards which include, but are not limited to, a bidding invitation process that comprises contractor, subcontractor and vendor companies owned by diverse genders and races.

Philanthropy

VG Cares Philanthropic Division

VG Cares Philanthropic Division – Our philosophy of serving and taking care of our associates and residents translates to the greater communities in which we operate. We believe it is our social responsibility to give back and improve lives, and as such, we offer many opportunities for our associates, supplier partners, and residents to support local charitable organizations. Each or our employees receive 8 hours of PTO annually, considered “Community Service” hours, to dedicate time to their charity of choice. Furthermore, VG contributes and sponsors national fund-raising events supporting various charitable causes focused on children, shelter, and animals. These include, but are not limited to, Ronald McDonald House Charities, One Tree Planted, Feeding America, UNICEF, and the Animal Placement Bureau.

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

Employment Practices – Village Green is comprised of more than 1,200 associates of diverse race, gender, and age cohorts. We continuously monitor and track our demographics, and report on those statistics to our Board of Directors every quarter to ensure accountability as well as the continued pursuit and proliferation of diversity, equity, and inclusion at every level of the organization. Furthermore, we have a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee comprised of associates at various levels of the organization who provide ongoing education.

Sensitivity & Awareness Training

We also require sensitivity and awareness training during onboarding as well as ongoing continuous education and training. Community outreach, internship and apprentice programs, and training and development programs have been developed to ensure ongoing diverse and inclusive recruitment, retention and career development.
